Dr Georgios Basdanis is a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist with an NHS and private practice at St Thomas’ Hospital and Guy’s Cancer Centre in London.

He has extensive experience of working with people with mental health difficulties in the context of chronic or severe physical health problems. He has specialist knowledge in the field of psycho-oncology, where he supports patients throughout their cancer diagnosis and treatment, including managing the side effects of oncology medications.

About Dr Basdanis

Dr Basdanis favours a collaborative, person-centred approach while working with his patients, creating focused and comprehensive treatment plans. He believes in empowering patients to be actively involved in their care, and he understands that seeking mental health support can be difficult, so he engages with his patients empathetically and sensitively.

After graduating from medical school at the University of Thessaly in Greece, Dr Basdanis completed his psychiatry training at the Maudsley, Royal Bethlem and St Thomas’ hospitals in London, and the Institute of Psychiatry. He is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry, with a sub-specialist endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry.

Dr Basdanis is a recognised medical educator. He serves as a GMC-recognised trainer and provides education and supervision for medical students and doctors. He has a particular interest in issues around sexuality and gender. He delivers teaching on LGBTQ+ healthcare.

 

Dr Basdanis can offer consultations in English and Greek.

Fees

Dr Basdanis is registered with all major insurance providers.

For self-paying customers, the fee for an initial appointment (60 minutes) is £500 and the fee for a follow-up appointment (30 minutes) is £250.
